Why culture is the true driver of commercial success

Conveyancing Alliance is recognised for its strong company culture, one that drives high performance, builds lasting client relationships and fosters team growth. We sat down with Mark Richards, Director of Sales at Conveyancing Alliance, to hear his top tips on creating that environment for both the business and its people.

In an industry that’s increasingly driven by data and digitisation, company culture often takes a back seat; but it’s culture that drives performance, shapes decision making and keeps people showing up every day when the pressure is on.

When culture has no clear direction, it fragments. Performance suffers. Employees need a clear sense of purpose that is lived daily. A culture of decency, accountability and care – not catchy slogans and team bonding activities – but consistent day-to-day behaviours.

Expanding into new regions, bringing nearly 500 brokers on board and building trusted relationships—these outcomes weren’t delivered by process alone. At Movera culture is key. People need to feel both supported and stretched. Leaders need to listen as much as they guide. Decisions need to be made with people in mind, not just profit or process.

Great culture starts with getting the basics right:
  • Listen to your team, listen to your clients and pay attention to what’s happening on the ground. Look beyond data and dashboards to the reality of every situation. In the future, growth will be dependent on positive feedback from employees. Do they feel seen, supported and given space to thrive?

  • Invest in learning and development. Create conditions that allow staff members to grow. Help them to see the value in their day-to-day work and encourage them to have a voice, speak up and get involved.

  • Be honest. Reflect on what’s working and what’s not. Look at systems and working practices but also communication and responsiveness. Refresh practices where needed but keep things people focused. If employees feel trusted, valued and clear on what matters you’ll create a space where great work happens.

Nail workplace culture and commercial results will be soon to follow.
