“I wanted a job that would fit round my family and the flexibility here is great. I start at 10am and finish at 3.30 two days a week in the office, and the other day I work from home from 9.30-2.30.”

Lindsey's Story

What does your role involve?

Our job is to get people up-to-speed with what’s going on and reassure brokers and others that everything is at hand and being looked at.

Where did you work before joining Movera?

I worked at a supermarket as a team leader on the checkouts there for eight and a half years. I have a lot of friends here, including former colleagues, and my sister-in-law.

How does Movera help you achieve work-life balance?

I wanted a job that would fit round my family and the flexibility here is great. I start at 10am and finish at 3.30 two days a week in the office, and the other day I work from home from 9.30-2.30. My new working hours have helped settle my kids, compared to working late shifts at my previous job, and family life is happier and less stressful.  I have a really good life/work balance which I never had before. There’s no stress and I don’t take work and work worries home. Once I’ve closed the laptop for the day, that’s it.

I’m working two hours more than at the supermarket but on better pay and I have Bank Holidays off. There’s far less stress and the firm is very good with people with families. They are flexible about school holidays. If I’m struggling, I can work from home or swap my days around.

How have you found moving from retail to an office-based job?

At first, going from a till to a laptop was daunting but now I’d be more scared of a till than a laptop! The tech here really helps. We use Visual Files which is extremely easy to use.

I’ve also been training on the Movera app and it’s very interesting to use it as the customer would. It’s great that clients can upload all documents it, do I.D checks, message case managers and make payments.

What are your career ambitions?

Once my littlest is older, I’d like to be a case manager here. I know I can get full training. You can move up and progress very easily here.

What’s your favourite memory of helping a customer?

Back before Christmas, I helped a young couple buy their first home. He was a soldier serving in Germany and she was a doctor, working all sorts of shifts. It was an incredibly stressful time for them. At one stage the couple were very worried they were going to be homeless. His Mum had gifted them the deposit and they had given her the authority to talk to us.

I was chasing information and giving them daily updates right until the last minute. Through a lot of hard work, I managed to get them into their new home for Christmas. After Christmas, I got this lovely email from his Mum telling me that, on moving in day, he had surprised his girlfriend on the doorstep of their new home by getting down on one knee to propose to her. They even sent me a photo of the proposal! It really made me proud to do my job.
