How Jordan Rogers is shaping the next generation of Property Lawyers

When Jordan Rogers took an admin role at his local conveyancing firm back in 2015, he couldn’t have imagined that just over ten years later he would still be working for what is now Movera – not only as a qualified Property Lawyer, but as a trainer.

Jordan was initially recommended the role at ONP Solicitors by a friend who valued the work life balance the role provided, thinking it would sit nicely alongside his passion for sports. But once he got started, Jordan quickly climbed up the ranks, stepping fully into the world of conveyancing a few months later as an assistant property lawyer.

By 2024, Jordan had been a senior property lawyer for several years, consistently delivering excellence across the board with an ever-positive attitude. So, as Movera was growing significantly, Jordan was given the opportunity to become a trainer within the Learning & Development department and use his expertise in both conveyancing and the Movera systems to onboard new property lawyers joining the company.

“I’m a people person so the move suited me well. At first, I felt at a loss without my own live cases to manage; but onboarding is so valuable and it’s important that when new staff members come in, they have someone they can turn to. I like to understand what makes people tick and get to know them. Make sure they feel safe and heard and able to ask questions. This role gives me the opportunity to do just that.”

Since then, Jordan was instrumental to the evolution of Movera’s learning and development programme. This process now includes a four-week onboarding block allowing conveyancers new to the company time to familiarise themselves with Movera’s systems and processes before being given live cases. Alongside that, trainees can also get stuck into a training programme which mirrors Movera’s case management system. “This is a big win,” Jordan says, “as it means trainees can rummage through and break files as much as they want, without the risk of damaging anyone’s live property purchase.” A governance process then follows to ensure new employees are ready to start working on live cases; but via the Movera Academy online portal, employees can continue their personal development indefinitely, building their knowledge of complex issues or case types so that they can progress in terms of seniority.

For Jordan, the most rewarding part of his role, is seeing the impact this onboarding process has on new team members. “It’s very satisfying when you get to the end of the training and you’re able to send folks off into a team, confident in the company’s processes and ways of working. To then see their careers progress as they work their way through the ranks – you can’t help but feel a sense of pride.”

Jordan also clearly has an impact on those he helps to onboard too, as last year he was presented with the ‘Brilliant People’ Award at the annual Movera Live event. Voted for by his peers, the award seeks to recognise those who always put people first with kindness, respect and passion – something that Jordan delivers in spades.

“The award came as a bit of a surprise – I really wasn’t expecting it. And I have my whole team to thank for it really. I may have got the award, but we worked as a team to build the learning and development platform and the Movera Academy. When people come in, they’re often surprised that their first four weeks are dedicated to building their skillset. That reflects on me as the trainer and the face of that process, but I have the whole Learning & Development team behind me feeding into that – it’s a massive group effort.”

When asked if he would recommend Movera as a workplace, Jordan was quick to answer “absolutely”, highlighting the company’s flexible approach to working, state of the art technology and approachable management team as just a few of its selling points. “With the infrastructure and support we have at Movera, you can do the work you want without being pulled in all directions which is crucial.

“We might be a large organisation now, but the emphasis internally is on sharing knowledge, as we all win if we all know what we’re doing. Learning and development isn’t something you’re promised at the door but is ultimately left behind. At Movera, there’s real opportunity to develop your expertise. If you want it and you’re willing to work for it, you can. The opportunities are there.”
